Connect Comcast and Xfinity email

Your comcast.net address works with Patriot Mail. Comcast is moving Xfinity Email over to Yahoo, a few customers at a time, so some accounts have moved and some have not. There is no way to tell from your address. This page covers both, starting with the one most people need.

Step one

Turn on access

Xfinity blocks other email apps until you allow them. Switch that on once, in your Xfinity settings.

Then connect

Use your Xfinity password

Sign in with your full comcast.net address and the same password you use on the Xfinity website.

Server settings

imap.comcast.net

Incoming imap.comcast.net on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.comcast.net on port 465 (SSL). Username is your full email address.

Step 1 - Required

Let other email apps get your mail

1

Sign in at xfinity.com

Open xfinity.com in a browser and sign in with your usual Xfinity details.

2

Open your email settings

Go to your email, open Settings, then Security. Xfinity keeps the setting for other email apps there.

3

Allow other email apps

Switch on the setting that lets other email programs get your mail, then save.

Step by step

Add Comcast to Patriot Mail

1

Open Add Account

Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

2

Enter your Comcast address

Type your full comcast.net address. Patriot Mail fills in the Comcast server settings for you.

3

Enter your Xfinity password

Use the same password you use on the Xfinity website, then continue.

If that did not work

Comcast may have moved your account to Yahoo

1

Sign in at connect.xfinity.com

Open connect.xfinity.com in a browser. If your account has moved, you are asked to accept Yahoo terms once.

2

Create a password for email apps

In your Yahoo account security settings, generate an app password. It is a one-off password made for email apps.

3

Use the Yahoo servers

Incoming imap.mail.yahoo.com on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo.com on port 465 (SSL). Use the app password instead of your Xfinity one.

Comcast server settings

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.comcast.net, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net, port 465, SSL
  • Username: your full comcast.net address
  • Password: your Xfinity password

If your account has moved to Yahoo

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.mail.yahoo.com, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com, port 465, SSL
  • Username: your full comcast.net address
  • Password: an app password from your Yahoo account security settings

Still stuck

If it will not connect

Three things to check

  • Check your address is typed correctly, with no spaces before or after it.
  • Confirm you switched on access for other email apps at xfinity.com.
  • Try the Yahoo settings above. Your account may have moved without you noticing.

Sometimes it is not you

  • Email providers occasionally stop accepting new connections for a while. If Patriot Mail says so, your password is fine and waiting is the fix.
  • Try again later in the day.
  • Write to support if it keeps happening.
