Connect Orange and Wanadoo Email with IMAP

Orange (orange.fr) and its older Wanadoo (wanadoo.fr) addresses work with Patriot Mail and any IMAP email app. The one thing to know: Orange no longer accepts your normal web password in email apps, so you create a dedicated mail password once in your Orange account.

Step one

Create a dedicated mail password

In your Orange account, generate the password for email apps. Your usual web login is refused by email programs.

Then connect

Use that password here

Sign in with your full orange.fr or wanadoo.fr address and the mail password you generated.

Server settings

imap.orange.fr

Incoming imap.orange.fr on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.orange.fr on port 465 (SSL). Username is your full email address.

Open your Orange account

Sign in to your Orange account in a browser and open the email settings.

Generate the mail password

Find the dedicated mail password option and generate a new one, then copy it.

Use it in the email app

Paste that password into the password field here.

Step by step

Add Orange to Patriot Mail

Open Add Account

Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

Enter your address

Type your full orange.fr or wanadoo.fr address. Patriot Mail fills in the Orange server settings for you.

Enter the mail password

Use the dedicated mail password you generated, then continue.

Other apps

Add Orange to Apple Mail on iPhone or Mac

Add a new account

On iPhone open Settings, then Mail, then Accounts, then Add Account. On Mac open Mail, then Settings, then Accounts. Choose Other Mail Account.

Enter your details

Enter your name, your full Orange address, and the mail password. Enter the servers by hand if Apple Mail cannot verify them automatically.

Enter the Orange servers

Incoming (IMAP): imap.orange.fr. Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.orange.fr. Username is your full email address.

Orange server settings

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.orange.fr, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.orange.fr, port 465, SSL
  • Username: your full orange.fr or wanadoo.fr address
  • Password: the dedicated mail password from your Orange account

If it will not connect

  • Use the dedicated mail password, not your Orange web login.
  • Check the address is typed correctly with no spaces.
  • Confirm the servers are imap.orange.fr and smtp.orange.fr.
