Turn on IMAP access
Enable IMAP in WP web mail settings. Until you do, every email app is refused with a login error.

Connect wp.pl Email with IMAP
WP Poczta (wp.pl, and also o2.pl, tlen.pl, and other Wirtualna Polska domains) works with Patriot Mail and any IMAP email app. There is one extra step most people miss: IMAP access is turned off by default and has to be switched on in WP web mail first.
Step 1 - Required
Turn on IMAP in WP web mail

Open WP web mail in a browser
Sign in at poczta.wp.pl on a computer or phone browser. You cannot change this setting from an email app.

Open the mail apps settings
Go to Ustawienia (Settings), then Programy pocztowe (Mail apps).

Turn on Dostep przez IMAP
Switch Dostep przez IMAP (IMAP access) to on. The status should read IMAP wlaczony (IMAP enabled). Now continue in your email app.
Step 2 - Only with two-step login
Create an app password
If you have two-step login turned on for your WP account, your normal password will not work in an email app. Create a separate app password for each app. If you do not use two-step login, skip this step and use your normal password.

Open account security
In WP web mail, open your account settings and find the security section for two-step login (logowanie dwustopniowe).

Create a mail app password
Find Hasla do programow pocztowych (passwords for mail apps) and create a new one. Give it a name so you can recognize it later.

Copy it into your email app
Paste the generated password into the password field. Each password works on one device only and contains no spaces.

Add wp.pl to Patriot Mail

Open Add Account
Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

Enter your wp.pl address
Type your full email address. Patriot Mail fills in the WP server settings for you.

Enter your password
Use your normal password, or the app password you created if you use two-step login, then continue. Your inbox starts loading.
Other apps
Add wp.pl to Apple Mail on iPhone or Mac
The same two rules apply in Apple Mail: turn on IMAP in WP web mail first, and use an app password if you have two-step login.

Add a new account
On iPhone open Settings, then Mail, then Accounts, then Add Account. On Mac open Mail, then Settings, then Accounts. Choose Other Mail Account.

Enter your details
Enter your name, your full wp.pl address, and your password (or app password). If Apple Mail cannot verify it automatically, enter the servers by hand.

Enter the WP servers
Incoming (IMAP): imap.wp.pl. Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.wp.pl. Username is your full email address for both.
WP server settings
- Incoming (IMAP): imap.wp.pl, port 993, SSL
- Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.wp.pl, port 465, SSL
- Username: your full wp.pl email address
- Password: your normal password, or an app password if two-step login is on

If it will not connect
- Confirm IMAP access is switched on in WP web mail (the most common cause).
- If you use two-step login, use an app password, not your normal password.
- Check the address is typed correctly with no spaces.
- Wait a minute after enabling IMAP, then try connecting again.
