Connect Daum and Hanmail Email with IMAP

Daum Mail and the older Hanmail addresses (daum.net, hanmail.net) work with Patriot Mail and any IMAP email app using your normal password. The one extra step: IMAP is off by default and has to be switched on in Daum web settings first.

Step one

Turn on IMAP

Enable IMAP/POP3 in Daum mail settings. Until you do, every email app is refused.

Password

Your normal password

Once IMAP is on, your normal Daum password works in the email app.

Server settings

imap.daum.net

Incoming imap.daum.net on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.daum.net on port 465 (SSL). Username is your full email address.

Open Daum mail settings

Sign in at Daum in a browser and open the mail settings.

Open the IMAP/POP3 section

Find the IMAP/POP3 settings in the mail options.

Turn on IMAP

Enable IMAP and save, then continue in your app.

Step by step

Add Daum to Patriot Mail

Open Add Account

Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

Enter your address

Type your full daum.net or hanmail.net address. Patriot Mail fills in the Daum server settings for you.

Enter your password

Use your normal Daum password, then continue.

Other apps

Add Daum to Apple Mail on iPhone or Mac

Add a new account

On iPhone open Settings, then Mail, then Accounts, then Add Account. On Mac open Mail, then Settings, then Accounts. Choose Other Mail Account.

Enter your details

Enter your name, your full daum.net or hanmail.net address, and your password. Enter the servers by hand if needed.

Enter the Daum servers

Incoming (IMAP): imap.daum.net. Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.daum.net. Username is your full email address.

Daum server settings

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.daum.net, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.daum.net, port 465, SSL
  • Username: your full daum.net or hanmail.net address
  • Password: your normal Daum password

If it will not connect

  • Confirm IMAP is switched on in Daum settings.
  • Check the address is typed correctly with no spaces.
  • Confirm the servers are imap.daum.net and smtp.daum.net.
