Connect Naver Mail with IMAP

Naver Mail (naver.com) works with Patriot Mail and any IMAP email app using your normal password. The one extra step: IMAP/SMTP access is off by default and has to be switched on in Naver web settings first.

Step one

Turn on IMAP/SMTP

Enable IMAP/SMTP in Naver mail settings. Until you do, every email app is refused.

Password

Your normal password

Once IMAP is on, your normal Naver password works. If you use two-step verification, create an app password instead.

Server settings

imap.naver.com

Incoming imap.naver.com on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.naver.com on port 587 (STARTTLS). Username is your full email address.

Open Naver mail settings

Sign in at Naver in a browser and open the mail settings.

Open the IMAP/SMTP section

Find the IMAP/SMTP settings in the mail options.

Turn on IMAP/SMTP

Enable the service and save, then continue in your app.

Step by step

Add Naver to Patriot Mail

Open Add Account

Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

Enter your Naver address

Type your full naver.com address. Patriot Mail fills in the Naver server settings for you.

Enter your password

Use your normal password, or an app password if two-step is on, then continue.

Other apps

Add Naver to Apple Mail on iPhone or Mac

Add a new account

On iPhone open Settings, then Mail, then Accounts, then Add Account. On Mac open Mail, then Settings, then Accounts. Choose Other Mail Account.

Enter your details

Enter your name, your full naver.com address, and your password. Enter the servers by hand if needed.

Enter the Naver servers

Incoming (IMAP): imap.naver.com. Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.naver.com. Username is your full email address.

Naver server settings

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.naver.com, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.naver.com, port 587, STARTTLS
  • Username: your full naver.com address
  • Password: your normal password, or an app password if two-step is on

If it will not connect

  • Confirm IMAP/SMTP is switched on in Naver settings.
  • Check the address is typed correctly with no spaces.
  • Confirm the servers are imap.naver.com and smtp.naver.com.
