What is different about EarthLink email

Worth knowing

The outgoing server is smtpauth

smtpauth.earthlink.net, not smtp.earthlink.net. An app that guesses the shorter name will receive mail and fail to send it.

Worth knowing

An address this old still works

EarthLink addresses have been in use for decades and connect the same way as any other. Nothing about yours needs replacing.

Step by step

How to connect EarthLink email

1

Enter your address

Choose Add account and type your full earthlink.net address.

2

Enter your password

Use your EarthLink email password. There is nothing to switch on first.

3

If mail arrives but will not send

Check the outgoing server reads smtpauth.earthlink.net on port 587 with authentication turned on.
