What is different about CenturyLink email

Worth knowing

Four brands, one mailbox

centurylink.net, centurytel.net, embarqmail.com and q.com are all CenturyLink mailboxes. Whichever address you were given, the servers below are the right ones.

Worth knowing

Outgoing mail uses port 587

CenturyLink blocks the old port 25 to cut down on spam, so use 587 and leave authentication switched on.

Step by step

How to connect CenturyLink email

1

Enter your address

Choose Add account and type your full address, whether it ends in centurylink.net, embarqmail.com, centurytel.net or q.com.

2

Enter your password

Use your CenturyLink email password. There is no app password to create.

3

If it does not connect

Check the outgoing server reads smtp.centurylink.net on port 587, and that the incoming one is mail.centurylink.net.
