Connect QQ Mail with IMAP

QQ Mail (qq.com) works with Patriot Mail and any IMAP email app. Two things to know: IMAP is off until you turn it on in QQ settings, and QQ gives you an authorization code that you use in place of your password.

Step one

Turn on IMAP

Enable IMAP in QQ Mail settings under account. Until you do, every email app is refused.

Step two

Get an authorization code

QQ shows an authorization code when you turn on IMAP. Use that code as your password, not your normal QQ password.

Server settings

imap.qq.com

Incoming imap.qq.com on port 993 (SSL). Outgoing smtp.qq.com on port 465 (SSL). Username is your full email address.

Open QQ Mail settings

Sign in to QQ Mail in a browser and open the account settings.

Turn on IMAP

Enable the IMAP/SMTP service and follow the verification.

Copy the authorization code

Copy the code QQ shows you and keep it for the next step.

Step by step

Add QQ Mail to Patriot Mail

Open Add Account

Go to Settings, then Accounts, then Add New Account.

Enter your QQ address

Type your full qq.com address. Patriot Mail fills in the QQ server settings for you.

Enter the authorization code

Use the authorization code in the password field, then continue.

Other apps

Add QQ Mail to Apple Mail on iPhone or Mac

Add a new account

On iPhone open Settings, then Mail, then Accounts, then Add Account. On Mac open Mail, then Settings, then Accounts. Choose Other Mail Account.

Enter your details

Enter your name, your full qq.com address, and the authorization code. Enter the servers by hand if needed.

Enter the QQ servers

Incoming (IMAP): imap.qq.com. Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.qq.com. Username is your full email address.

QQ Mail server settings

  • Incoming (IMAP): imap.qq.com, port 993, SSL
  • Outgoing (SMTP): smtp.qq.com, port 465, SSL
  • Username: your full qq.com address
  • Password: the authorization code from QQ settings

If it will not connect

  • Confirm IMAP is switched on in QQ Mail settings.
  • Use the authorization code, not your normal password.
  • Check the address is typed correctly with no spaces.
