Optimum Email IMAP Settings and Setup

Optimum email works with Patriot Mail and any other email app using your normal password. One server name covers both incoming and outgoing mail.

mail.optimum.net handles incoming and outgoing mail. There is no separate imap or smtp name to look up.

Worth knowing

Older addresses are Optimum mailboxes

optonline.net and suddenlink.net addresses use the same servers and the same password as an optimum.net address.

How to connect Optimum email

Enter your address

Choose Add account and type your full address, whether it ends in optimum.net, optonline.net or suddenlink.net.

Enter your password

Use your Optimum email password. There is nothing to switch on and no app password to create.

If it does not connect

Confirm both servers read mail.optimum.net and that the connection is set to SSL rather than plain text.

Optimum email and Patriot Mail

What are the IMAP settings for Optimum email?

mail.optimum.net on port 993 with SSL for incoming mail, and mail.optimum.net on port 465 with SSL for outgoing mail. Your username is your full email address.

Do optonline.net addresses use different settings?

No. optonline.net and optimum.net addresses share the same servers, and so do suddenlink.net addresses.

Do I need an app password for Optimum?

No. Your Optimum email password works in an email app.

Will connecting Optimum to Patriot Mail change my address?

No. Patriot Mail connects to the mailbox you already have, so your address stays the same and your mail stays with Optimum.
