Sky Email IMAP Settings and Setup

Sky email works with Patriot Mail and any other email app, with one thing to do first: Sky needs an app password rather than your normal Sky password.

Server settings

What to enter, if an app asks you

Patriot Mail fills these in for you. They are here for any other app that asks, and so you can check what you were given.

What is different about Sky

Worth knowing

An app password is always needed

Sky refuses your normal password in email apps and gives you a 16-character app password to use instead. You enter it once, and you do not have to remember it.

Worth knowing

Do not pick the Yahoo option

Sky mail runs on Yahoo's systems but keeps its own server names. If an app offers a Yahoo option, choose the manual or other option and enter the Sky servers below.

Step by step

How to connect Sky

1

Create a Sky app password

Sign in on the Sky website and open the Sky Yahoo Mail page for managing apps. Create an app password for mail and copy the 16 characters.

2

Add the account to Patriot Mail

Open Patriot Mail, choose Add account, and enter your full sky.com address. Paste the app password into the password field.

3

If it does not connect

If sign-in fails, create a fresh app password and try once more. An app password that has been used elsewhere or typed by hand with spaces is the usual cause.

Common questions

Sky and Patriot Mail

What are the IMAP settings for Sky email?

imap.tools.sky.com on port 993 with SSL for incoming mail, and smtp.tools.sky.com on port 465 with SSL for outgoing mail. Your username is your full sky.com address.

Why does Sky keep refusing my password?

Sky does not accept your normal Sky password in an email app. You create a 16-character app password on the Sky website and use that instead. Your Sky password still works everywhere else.

Where do I create a Sky app password?

On the Sky website, open Sky Yahoo Mail and go to the page for managing apps and app passwords. Create one for mail, copy the 16 characters, and paste them into the password field here.

Is Sky email the same as Yahoo Mail?

Sky Mail is run on Yahoo's systems, so Sky help pages and Yahoo help pages both cover it. Use the Sky servers on this page and an app password created from your Sky account.

Will connecting Sky to Patriot Mail change my address?

No. Patriot Mail connects to the Sky mailbox you already have, so your address does not change and your mail stays with Sky.

Keep your Sky address

Patriot Mail connects the mailbox you already have. Your address does not change, your mail stays with Sky, and it is free to use.
