Virgin Media Mail IMAP Settings and Setup

Virgin Media Mail works with Patriot Mail and any other email app, with one thing to do first: create an app password in your Virgin Media account and use that instead of your normal password.

What to enter, if an app asks you

Patriot Mail fills these in for you. They are here for any other app that asks, and so you can check what you were given.

What is different about Virgin Media Mail

Worth knowing

An app password is required

Virgin Media does not accept your normal password in an email app. You generate an app password in the My Virgin Media app, under Account settings, then Account details, next to Virgin Media Mail.

Worth knowing

Older addresses are Virgin Media mailboxes

Addresses at ntlworld.com and blueyonder.co.uk came from services Virgin Media took over. They are Virgin Media mailboxes and use the servers below.

Step by step

How to connect Virgin Media Mail

1

Create an app password

In the My Virgin Media app, open Account settings, then Account details. Under Virgin Media Mail, generate a new app password and copy it.

2

Add the account to Patriot Mail

Open Patriot Mail, choose Add account, and enter your full address. Paste the app password into the password field.

3

If it does not connect

If it is refused, generate a fresh app password and use that. An app password can only be copied when it is created.
